Terms of use
The short version
Aloud is a rehearsal instrument for your own speaking. It measures what it can measure on your device and shows you the working. It is not a medical or therapeutic product. You buy Pro from Apple, not from us, so Apple handles the money and the refunds. If something is wrong, write to chochoapps@gmail.com and a person will answer.
1. Who provides the service
Aloud is made and provided by Szymon Dziedzic, NIP 5532590884, contact address chochoapps@gmail.com. Referred to below as "we" or "us". You are referred to as "you".
2. What these terms cover
They cover the Aloud app for iPhone, its Apple Watch app and its widgets, and this website at aloudcoach.com. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not accept them, delete the app.
Buying through the App Store also puts you under Apple's own terms for that store. Where Apple's terms govern the purchase itself, they take precedence over anything here about payment.
3. What you need
- An iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
- Permission for the microphone, and permission for speech recognition if you want transcripts.
- An Apple Watch running a matching watchOS version, only if you want Stage mode on your wrist.
- No internet connection for the measuring. A connection is needed only for optional sync, for purchases, and for the AI studio.
4. What Aloud does, and what it does not
Aloud records a rehearsal, measures pace, filler words, hesitation sounds, pauses, loudness variation and timing, and scores the delivery out of 100. Every number is shown with the sentence that explains how it was reached.
The measurements are estimates produced by software from a microphone signal. They depend on the room, the microphone, the language and the speech model on your device. Treat them as a useful instrument, not as a verdict.
Aloud is not a medical device and not a therapeutic tool. It makes no diagnosis and no claim about stuttering, anxiety, any speech disorder or any other condition, and it must not be used as a substitute for professional advice.
Aloud is not a meeting recorder. It is built for recording yourself. If you record anyone else, getting their consent is your responsibility and the law where you live may require it.
5. Your account
An account is optional and every measuring feature works without one. You can sign in with Apple, or sign in without identifying yourself. An account adds two things: your numbers and transcripts sync so a new phone keeps the history, and the AI studio becomes available. Audio never syncs.
You are responsible for the Apple Account you sign in with. You can delete the account and everything stored under it from Settings inside the app.
6. Free and Pro
The free version gives you unlimited rehearsals of up to two minutes, the live pace and filler count, the Pace and Flow parts of the report with their working, the first sixty words of the transcript, your last three runs, and one AI coach note.
Aloud Pro adds runs of any length, the full report, the pace curve, the pause map, crutch words, the complete history with the trend line, Apple Watch pace cues, the teleprompter, all of the drills and the AI studio.
Pro is offered as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, or as a single lifetime payment. Prices are set per App Store region and shown to you in your own currency before you confirm. The free trial, where offered, is on the weekly plan.
7. Payment, renewal and cancelling
- All purchases are made through Apple's App Store. Apple is the seller, takes the payment, and holds your payment details. We never see them.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Apple charges the account within twenty four hours of the end of the current period.
- Cancel in the Settings app on your iPhone, under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not shorten the period you have already paid for.
- If a free trial is running and you cancel before it ends, you are not charged. Starting a paid subscription forfeits any unused part of a trial.
- Refunds are requested from Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, because Apple took the payment. We cannot issue a refund ourselves, but write to us and we will help you put the request together.
- Use Settings then Restore purchases to bring an existing entitlement to a new device. Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock follow your Apple Account.
8. Your right to withdraw
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom you have a right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital content. Because the purchase is made from Apple, that right is exercised through Apple under Apple's Media Services terms, using the same reportaproblem.apple.com link. This does not affect any other right you have under consumer law.
9. The AI studio
The coach note, the script studio and the question drill are optional features that only run when you tap them. When you do, the text of that rehearsal or the notes you typed are sent through our server to OpenAI, which produces the reply. Audio is never sent. The feature needs an account, and there is a daily limit per account to prevent abuse.
What comes back is generated text. It can be wrong. It is given the numbers your device measured and is instructed not to invent or re estimate any of them, but you should still read its suggestions as suggestions.
10. How you may use it
Use Aloud for your own rehearsing. Do not try to break into it, take it apart to rebuild it as something else, resell access to it, use it to record people without their agreement, or use it to produce anything unlawful.
11. What belongs to whom
The app, this website, the name Aloud, the icon and the design belong to us. Your recordings, transcripts, scripts and notes belong to you. We claim no licence over them, and with sync switched off we never receive them at all.
12. Availability and changes
We try to keep the app working and improving, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of defects. Features may change between versions, and the optional server side parts depend on services we do not control. If a change removes something you paid for, we will say so in the release notes.
13. Liability
Aloud is a rehearsal tool. We are not liable for how a talk, an interview or any other performance actually goes, or for decisions you take on the strength of a score. Otherwise our liability is limited to what the law allows, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing here limits the statutory rights of a consumer.
14. Complaints
Send a complaint to chochoapps@gmail.com with your name, a description of the problem and what you would like done. We will reply within fourteen days. If the complaint is about a payment, say which Apple Account made it, because we will need to point you at Apple.
A consumer in the European Union may also use the online dispute resolution platform provided by the European Commission, or the consumer protection body in their own country.
15. Privacy
What is stored, what syncs and what is sent when you tap an AI feature is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
16. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version is published here with a new date. For a change that affects a subscription you are already paying for, we will tell you inside the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Aloud after that means you accept the new version.
17. Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Polish law. Nothing in this section takes away the protection a consumer has under the law of the country they live in, including the right to bring a case before the courts of that country.
