Privacy Policy
The short version
Your recordings never leave your iPhone. Aloud works fully without an account, and in that state nothing at all is sent anywhere. If you choose to sign in, the measurements and transcripts of your rehearsals are copied to a private space that only you can read, so a new phone starts where you left off. The audio is never part of that. Aloud contains no analytics and no advertising of any kind.

Speech recognition
Transcription runs on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech models. Your audio is not uploaded to be transcribed.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional, and every feature that worked before it keeps working without it. There are two ways in:
- Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. They are used to label the account and for nothing else. There is no mailing list and no marketing.
- Without identifying yourself. A random identifier with no personal information attached to it.
The synced copy lives in Google Cloud Firestore in the europe-west1 region (Belgium), inside a project we control. Security rules restrict every document to the account that created it: no other user, and no unauthenticated request, can read it. There is no feed, no profile and no sharing anywhere in Aloud.
The AI studio
The coach note, script studio and question drill are optional features you trigger by tapping them. When you do, the text of that one rehearsal, meaning its transcript and the numbers measured from it, or the notes you typed, are sent to OpenAI to produce the reply. Audio is never sent.
The request passes through our Cloud Function, which calls OpenAI with our key. There is no key for you to set up, and none is stored on your phone. We do not keep the prompt or the reply on the server; the reply is saved on your device, and in your own synced space if sync is on. A per-account daily request count is kept to prevent abuse.
Because the request is made on your behalf, the AI studio needs an account. Without one it stays switched off and nothing is ever sent. OpenAI's handling of the text we pass on is covered by their own policies.
The contact form on this website
If you use the form on the contact page, it collects the name, the email address, the subject you pick and the message you type. Nothing else. There is no analytics script and no tracking cookie anywhere on this website.
- Why: so that your message can be read and answered.
- Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete the message.
- Who else handles it: Netlify, Inc. in the United States runs the form and stores the submission, then forwards it by email to an inbox hosted by Google. Both act on our instructions as processors. Sending your message therefore transfers it outside the European Economic Area, under the standard contractual clauses those providers use for such transfers.
- How long: as long as the conversation needs, and then deleted. Anything we are required to keep for accounting or legal reasons is kept only for as long as that requires.
You never have to use the form. Writing directly to chochoapps@gmail.com reaches the same person and skips Netlify entirely.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple. Aloud receives only the entitlement status from the App Store. We never see your payment details.
Apple Watch
The watch app exchanges the current rehearsal state and its cues with your iPhone over Apple's device-to-device connection. Nothing goes to a server.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
None. Aloud contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind. We do not build profiles and we do not sell data, so there is nothing to opt out of. The Cloud Functions keep ordinary server logs recording that a request happened and whether it failed; they are not used to profile anyone.
Children
Aloud is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone beyond what is described above.
Deleting your data
- One rehearsal: delete it in the app. Its recording, transcript and synced copy all go.
- Your account: Settings → Delete account. This removes the account and everything stored under it on the server. The rehearsals on your iPhone stay unless you delete them too.
- Everything: delete the app, which removes every local copy.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK you have the right to access, correct, export and erase your personal data. The app covers the first three, because the data is on your device in front of you, and account deletion is in Settings. If you would rather ask a person, email chochoapps@gmail.com. The data controller is Szymon Dziedzic, NIP 5532590884, contact address chochoapps@gmail.com.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, the Prezes Urzedu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, at uodo.gov.pl. You may complain to the authority in the country you live in instead.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
